The artist & the gallery

"Wild Planet Art Gallery is not about perfection, it's about perception. It's about looking closely at the diversity of our living world and appreciating all things, no matter how small. It's about looking at things that are always there but we sometimes don't see."

Wild Planet Art Gallery displays the work of one artist. Katrina Slack has lived in St Ives for the past 5 years, like many she was drawn to the area for its unique light and sense of space. Like her life, her work is eclectic; she is inspired both by her environment and her experience. Having originally trained as a photo-journalist, much of her work is photographic whilst her experience of working in the music industry resulted in the incorporation of lyrics and music into her showcases.

Her recent work utilises a range of mediums but all are inspired by the natural environment, a world that we neglect, sometimes without even having noticed its presence. Her observations have a provocative edge of realism blended with cynicism. Katrina's most recent compositions are made of the debris found on St Ives beaches, ironically using man-made materials to imitate the powerful forces of nature.

Displayed on the pages is a wide selection of photographic canvas prints, art cards, watercolours, acrylics and mixed media pieces. These are available to buy from the gallery or order on line.
